Managing your finances effectively is a key part of thriving as a student. While your Northampton Student House includes all bills, there are additional steps you can take to manage your finances effectively and enhance your Northampton Student living experience. Managing your finances is crucial for achieving success as a student.
Creating a realistic budget enables you to manage your spending effectively and minimise unnecessary stress. Use tools like budgeting apps and allocate your income thoughtfully to balance necessities, leisure, and savings.
Food Shopping
Remember, in Northampton, you are well served by local Supermarkets, such as Aldi, which offer good value and well-priced food. Aldi’s affordability enables you to manage your budget effectively. Their food tends to be cheaper, and while it doesn’t seem to last as long as that brought by the larger (and more expensive) supermarkets, it is excellent value for money, even if it means more trips to keep stocked up. There is one near our Somerset Street student house, as well as our Elysium student house. If you’re in one of our other Northampton student houses, then it’s well worth a weekly trip to a branch to save money.
Additionally, adopting money-saving strategies—such as cooking at home, utilising student discounts, and finding affordable transportation options—can significantly reduce your daily expenses and improve your Northampton Student Living experience.
Supplement your budget
To supplement your budget, explore part-time jobs, freelancing, or scholarships for additional income. Combining these efforts helps students achieve financial stability while focusing on academic and personal growth. Building good money habits during student life lays the foundation for long-term financial independence.
Start small, stay consistent, and enjoy the rewards of mastering money management—it’s a skill that will serve you well beyond your university years. What you learn during your stay at our Northampton Student house can serve you later in life.
